Martin Katscan's NEW BAND - Simian Artillery(06:01:08)
Since the band split Last November Martin has been busy writing and recording music for his new project which has until now remained unnamed. It's confirmed that the project will now be called Simian Artillery.
Martin got the name from a random tangent in one of Ross Noble's Fizzy Logic shows.
Simian Artillery will retain the venomous electropunk attitude of Katscan but moving in a more Industrial Metal direction showing a strong NDH (Neue Deutsche Härte) influence. So maybe an original NBH band?( Neue Britisch Härte )? Put that in to Bablefish and see just how camp it sounds translated from German to English! ;=)
Yep, after 7 years of snarly zombie fueled anarchy, Katscan has been taken out into the backyard and shot neatly in temple before being unceremoniously dumped in a skip.
Why?
It's time has been and gone. Dead horses need not be flogged publicly. It needed to be put of it's misery. The fickle shifting sands of fashion and accessory have swept on to pan-European pastures anew. Preset pushers with bigger budgets and production values have neatly plugged the hole we once only struggled to stem with sellotape and bluetack. (Some) People don't want ideas, thought or heart but are content with instant formulaic soundtracks to their off-the-peg rebellion and bubblegum identities.
But mostly because if I don't enjoy it anymore, why should i expect anyone else to?
How?
quickly and with immediate deadly effect.
All 3 of us in the final line-up (Myself, Ed Oxime and Phil Able) have agreed to let it die peaceful.
There isn't any bad blood and we are likely to collaborate on other projects in the not too distant future.
The Gigs?
Yeah sorry to anyone who was coming to see us at upcoming gigs, but we have obviously had to cancel our appearances as there is no longer a band to perform them.
I'm sure they will still be great gigs though so show your support and get out there!
What Now?
I'm already enjoying writing and recording new material with a more guitar orientated industrial flavour. Ed Oxime is resurrecting his own Oxime 187 project. Phil Able continues to DJ on London's club scene and is currently in the planning stages of a 4/5 piece punky metal outfit.
Both Ed and Phil will always be my first choice for collaboration and live work, so will probably see us all on stage together again, just not as Katscan.
What about us?
Obviously massive thanks to everyone who has ever supported Katscan in any way since I started it back in 2000 either by buying the CDs, coming to the shows or just telling us you liked what we did. And a cheeky nod to all the cool people we have played live with, met along the way and generally been 'good eggs'....
Righto just off to pour petrol into that skip and light the match.
Fuck off,
Martin Katscan

New Katscan Album For 2007: (11:02:07)
That's right! Katscan are currently recording a brand new album due for release April/May 2007 on UK Industrial/Futurepunk label Line Out Records. The as yet untitled album will see a marked progression of the Katscan sound we all know and love (?), as the band incorporate live guitars into the recording process. A grittier, nastier sound which while retaining all the electropunk synth swagger and sample mutations of past releases, bolts on chunky punky/metal crunchiness for a tasty treat. Think a tuned down ministry or pitchshifter or maybe a bratish British take on the Rob Zombie sound and you're probably nowhere near, but it's at least an indication of the shenanigans to come! More news to follow!

All New Website:(26:06:05)
As i'm sure you can probably work out for yourselves this is a all new look to the Katscan website. A lot of it is still being built and tinkered with behind the scenes, so you will find a few 'under construction' pages, but we've dragged our heals so much we thought we'd best at least whet your appetite with something while you wait for us to pull our friggin fingers out and finish the job.
Katscan Video:(26:06:05) Along with all the various resources for Katscan mp3 tracks (The Soundclick, Myspace page and 'audio' page above) We going to start putting a few Katscan videos up for you to stream or download at your leisure. To Start with we have a video for 'Zombie Machine' made by up and coming film company "The Comedy Militia", and based on the film 'They Live'. Check the new 'video' page for more details. There will also be another promo and a few live bits up when they are edited.
DOOM 3 Soundtrack:(26:06:05) Katscan have been asked to supply an instrumental version of 'Zombie Machine' to be used in a new Mission Pack for the excellent 'shit yer pants scary' PC game DOOM 3. The Add-On entitled confusingly enough 'Quake 2 Lost Marine' is a nod to the classic Quake 2 game but with far more brutal and spectacular effects etc and using the actual 'engine' of DOOM 3. This mission pack is for the PC version of the game and will be available for free to owners of the full game. Check out the lost marine minisite for emerging details.
